Theatre Aquarius is pleased to present Toronto, Mississippi in a co-production with the Playhouse Theatre Company, Vancouver. Written by Governor General Award-winning playwright Joan MacLeod, this heartfelt family drama is about Jhana, a mentally challenged girl who, like any teenager, tries to decipher a complicated adult world. When Jhana's father, an Elvis impersonator, returns after a long absence, her unusual family is thrust into action. Beautifully, humorously, and touchingly exploring themes of mental disability, abandonment, love, and lust, Toronto, Mississippi is a Canadian gem.

Toronto, Mississippi is directed by Dean Paul Gibson, and stars Meg Roe as Jhana, William MacDonald as King, Colleen Wheeler as Maddie, and Alessandro Juliani (from television’s Battlestar Galactica) as Bill.

“See this play and fall in love.”
— Colin Thomas: Georgia Straight

“Joan MacLeod’s writing is strong and travels single-mindedly in its chosen direction, like an eccentric in the park who grabs you by the arm and takes you on a journey you hadn’t planned.”
— Globe & Mail
